Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our fly fishing adventures
No experience is necessary! Our guides are trained to work with all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced anglers. We provide patient, personalized instruction and all the equipment you need. Whether you've never held a rod or you're looking to master advanced techniques, we'll tailor the trip to your ability.
Our trip packages include expert guide service, all fly fishing equipment (rods, reels, waders, flies), lunch and refreshments, transportation to fishing locations, and fishing licenses for the day. We also provide waterproof gear bags and photography of your experience at no extra charge.
Fly fishing can be enjoyed year-round, but peak seasons vary by location. Spring (March-May) offers excellent hatches and active trout. Summer (June-August) is great for dry fly fishing in the mornings and evenings. Fall (September-November) brings stunning scenery and aggressive pre-winter feeding. Our guides can recommend the best dates based on your target species.
We recommend booking at least 2-4 weeks in advance, especially during peak season (May-September). Popular dates and weekends can fill up quickly. However, we do accommodate last-minute bookings when availability allows. For group bookings of 4 or more, we suggest booking at least 6 weeks ahead to ensure your preferred date.
Light rain actually makes for great fishing! However, if conditions are unsafe (lightning, severe storms, flooding), we'll offer you the choice of rescheduling at no additional cost or a full refund. Our guides monitor weather conditions closely and will communicate any changes 24 hours before your trip.
Yes, we strongly advocate catch and release practices to preserve our fisheries for future generations. Our guides use barbless hooks and proper handling techniques to ensure fish are returned safely. We'll teach you how to handle fish gently, take quick photos, and release them unharmed. In select locations where regulations permit, limited harvest may be allowed.
Absolutely! You're welcome to bring your own fly rod, reel, and gear. Our guides can also help you select the right flies and adjust your setup for the local conditions. If you'd prefer to use our premium equipment instead, it's always included in the trip price at no extra cost.
We recommend wearing layers that can handle changing conditions: moisture-wicking base layers, a fleece or insulated mid-layer, and a waterproof outer shell. Sturdy footwear with good ankle support is essential. We provide waders and wading boots. Don't forget sunglasses (polarized are best), sunscreen, and a hat for sun protection.
